Quartz Sink

A quartz sink is a durable and stylish option for any kitchen or bathroom. Quartz sinks are made from a combination of crushed quartz, resins, and pigments. They are non-porous, meaning they don't absorb liquids and are resistant to scratches and stains.

The sole purpose of any kitchen sink is not just its use or usefulness. It should also fit or match with the kitchen surroundings or other furniture used in the kitchen.

Quartz Kitchen Sinks: Scratch and Stain Resistant Sinks for Modern Indian Kitchens

A quartz sink is a kitchen sink moulded from a stone composite, a blend of about 80% crushed natural quartz and around 20% resin and pigment. This mix makes a hard, non-porous surface that resists scratches, stains and everyday knocks, and it comes in colours that a plain steel sink cannot match.

Eureka Sinks makes quartz kitchen sinks at our factory in Morbi, Gujarat, in single bowl and two-bowl designs, in six colours, from a compact 21 x 18 inches up to a large 45 x 20 inches. The surface stays quiet under running water and hides water marks, which suits open and modular kitchens where the sink is on show.

What a Quartz Sink Is Made Of and Why It Suits Indian Kitchens

A quartz sink is not cut from a single stone. It is a composite: crushed natural quartz mixed with resin and colour, then moulded into a bowl. About 80% of the mix is quartz, which is what gives the surface its hardness. Quartz sits at roughly 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, harder than stainless steel, so the surface takes daily use without showing fine scratches.

  • Hides scratches: Knives, forks and heavy vessels do not leave the fine scratch marks you see on a bright steel sink.
  • Resists stains: The surface is non-porous, so turmeric, tea, oil and masala do not soak in. Spills wipe off and do not leave a mark.
  • Stays quiet: The thick composite body dampens the sound of running water and vessels, so the sink is quieter than steel.
  • Comes in colours: Black, grey, cream and sand-tone finishes let you match the sink to a granite, quartz or laminate platform.
  • Warm to touch: The surface does not feel as cold as steel and does not show water spots the same way.
  • Handles heat within cooking use: Quartz resists heat up to about 280 degrees Celsius. Very hot vessels straight off a high flame should rest for a moment first, since a sudden hot-cold change on a wet surface is best avoided.

If you move very hot cookers and kadais to the sink many times a day, or want the lowest-cost option, a stainless steel kitchen sink may suit you better. The next section compares the two.

Quartz Sink vs Stainless Steel Sink: Which Is Right for You?

Both are good sinks. Choose a quartz sink for colour, a quiet surface and scratch resistance. Choose a stainless steel sink for the heaviest heat and daily use and the lowest price. The table below sets out the difference on the points that matter in an Indian kitchen.

Point Quartz sink Stainless steel sink (304 grade)
Made from 80% crushed quartz with resin and colour 304 grade steel with about 18% chromium and 8% nickel
Scratch resistance Excellent, hides fine scratches Good, shows fine scratches over years
Stain resistance Excellent, non-porous Good, wipes clean with care

How to Choose the Right Quartz Sink

Choose a quartz sink in five steps: measure the base cabinet, pick a bowl layout, set the bowl depth, pick a colour and confirm the fitting. Because quartz sinks are heavier than steel, the cabinet support matters more than usual.

1. Measure the Base Cabinet

Measure the inside width of the cabinet under the sink. Keep the overall width of the sink about 3 inches less, so the plumber has room for the waste and pipes. A quartz sink is heavy, so make sure the cabinet has firm side supports or a base batten to carry the weight.

2. Pick a Bowl Layout

  • Single bowl: More open room for large vessels, best for compact and modular kitchens. See the UR1 Series and Aproan Series.
  • Two equal bowls: Wash on one side, rinse or soak on the other, handy for families that cook several meals a day. See the Aqua Series.

3. Set the Bowl Depth

An 8 inch bowl suits a small household. Go for 9 or 10 inches if you wash large cookers and kadais daily, since a deeper bowl holds them fully and keeps splashes off the platform.

4. Pick a Colour

Match the sink to your platform and cabinets. Black and grey suit modern kitchens, while cream and sand tones suit lighter interiors. See the six colours in the section above.

5. Confirm the Fitting Type

Most quartz sinks in India are fitted top-mount, where the rim rests on the platform. Some deeper models can also be fitted flush or under-mount if the platform is cut for it. Decide on the tap at the same time, so the cut-out and plumbing are planned together.

Quartz Sink Size Guide

The most popular quartz sink sizes in India are 24 x 18 inches for a single bowl and around 37 x 18 or 45 x 20 inches for a two-bowl sink. Use the table below to match your kitchen to the right Eureka model.

How to Clean and Care for a Quartz Sink

A quartz sink needs only a rinse and a weekly wash to keep its colour and finish. Follow these habits:

  1. Rinse the bowl and wipe it dry after use, so soap and hard water do not build up a film.
  2. Wash it once a week with dishwash liquid and a soft sponge or nylon brush.
  3. For a white film from hard water, wipe with diluted vinegar or a mild limescale cleaner, then rinse well. Do this now and then, not daily.
  4. To lift a stain, make a paste of baking soda and water, leave it a few minutes, then scrub gently and rinse.
  5. Let a very hot vessel cool for a moment before putting it in the sink, so the surface does not face a sudden hot-cold change on a wet spot.
  6. Do not use harsh acid cleaners, bleach or drain acids, as they can dull the finish.
  7. On a black or dark sink, an occasional wipe with a few drops of cooking oil on a cloth brings back the shine. Rinse off the extra oil after.

Frequently Asked Questions About Quartz Sinks

What is a quartz sink made of?

A quartz sink is moulded from a stone composite, about 80% crushed natural quartz mixed with around 20% resin and pigment. This gives a hard, non-porous surface that resists scratches and stains and comes in several colours.

Is a quartz sink better than a stainless steel sink?

Each suits a different need. A quartz sink offers colour, a quieter surface and better scratch resistance. A stainless steel sink handles the heaviest heat, takes very hot vessels straight off the flame and costs less. Pick based on how you cook.

Do quartz sinks scratch or stain easily?

No. Quartz is harder than steel, so the surface hides fine scratches from daily use. It is also non-porous, so turmeric, tea and oil wipe off and do not soak in.

Can I put hot vessels in a quartz sink?

Quartz handles heat up to about 280 degrees Celsius. It is best to let a very hot cooker or kadai cool for a moment first, since a sudden hot-cold change on a wet surface can stress the material.

What colours do Eureka quartz sinks come in?

Eureka quartz sinks come in six colours: Z Black, Slate Gray, Lapis, Cappuccino, Biscotti and Vanilla. Every series is offered in all six, so you can match the sink to your platform and cabinets.

What is the best quartz sink size for an Indian kitchen?

The most common sizes are 24 x 18 inches for a single bowl and 37 x 18 or 45 x 20 inches for a two-bowl sink. A 24 x 18 single bowl suits most 2BHK kitchens, while larger families prefer a two-bowl sink.

Are quartz sinks noisy?

No. A quartz sink is quieter than a steel sink because the thick composite body dampens the sound of running water and vessels.

How do I clean a quartz sink?

Rinse and wipe it dry after use, and wash it once a week with dishwash liquid and a soft sponge. Use diluted vinegar for hard water film and a baking soda paste for stains. Avoid bleach and acid cleaners.

Does a black quartz sink show water marks?

A dark quartz sink can show a light hard water film in hard water areas. Wiping the bowl dry after use keeps it clear, and an occasional wipe with a few drops of oil brings back the shine.

Are quartz sinks heavy to install?

Yes, a quartz sink is heavier than a steel sink, so the base cabinet needs firm side supports or a base batten to carry the weight. Any experienced plumber can fit one top-mount on a granite or quartz platform.

Where can I buy Eureka quartz sinks?

You can buy Eureka quartz sinks directly from our factory in Morbi, Gujarat, or through our dealers. Call +91 72290 93333 or email info@eurekasinks.com for prices, colours and dealer details.
